Dealing with different devices means dealing with lots of cables and wires. The cables get entangled and are at risk of breakage if not cared for adequately.

You currently cannot do without cables as long as you have multiple devices. However, that does not mean that your cables cannot be in pristine condition and your space organized.

The following are tips form Marshall Industrial as to how to properly manage your cables:

  1. Keep Them Closer to Outlets

Power outlets can be located at very inconvenient places. Their location may cause you to have long stretching cables. A lot of the clutter is from having cables stretching across the room.

By having cables only close to the outlets, you can save the rest of the room from the clutter of the wires. It will also save you from tripping on wires all over the place. This way, only a small space (around outlets) is cluttered.

  1. Go Wireless

Using more wireless devices is the best way to reduce the amount of cables you use. There are plenty of wireless options nowadays as far as power cables are concerned and we are becoming even more wireless. Wireless devices offer astounding mobility and freedom for living spaces.

Though you may not be able to avoid charging cables, you can have a special shelf or drawer where you keep the cables and only retrieve them when you have to use them.

Wireless devices may cost a little bit more than cabled ones but the savings in clutter and damaged cables might very well be worth it. Examples of wireless connections including Bluetooth speakers and wireless HDMI.

  1. Cable Storage Spaces

The problem with using cables is that they slowly build up over time. Having an external location to store cables when they are not in use significantly reduces the amount of cable clutter in your living space. They will also prevent your cables from damage as opposed to if they were lying around unprotected.

A pouch or bag such as the BAGSMART travel organizer is a great way to organize cables and adapters. Such storage containers though meant for travel can be a very handy cable organizer.

The added advantage of having such cable storage spaces is their versatility. You can use them at home, the office, at school and carry them when travelling.

  1. Arrange your Cords

There are cables that you probably use several times a day such as your mobile phone, tablet or laptop charger. For easy access, retrieval and storage, it will be better if you had them neatly arranged. Cables cannot be cluttered if they are well arranged.

Such cable organizers tend to be very cheap. They also have the option of simply tying the cables for convenient portability.

  1. Tie Cables Together

For those cables that you do not regularly use, you can tie them together and store them so that they do not clutter your living or working space. Tying cords together automatically reduces the amount of space that they can consume. It also makes them appear very neat.

If you are worried about knowing which cable is which you can label them for easy identification. If you don’t have to move the cable often, you can strap the cable against a surface which prevents them from cluttering your space.
